The key role played by the logistics sector for the functioning of economies and societies remains indisputable.
In the last three years, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, words such as ‘logistics’ or ‘supply chain’ have been tossed around on a regular basis.
The global economic value of the sector keeps growing: in 2020 it stood at 8.2 trillion USD, and according to estimates, it is expected to reach 9 trillion USD at the end of 2022. And it looks like it will continue to grow.
The Logistics – Global HR Trends report aims to illustrate the active role of logistics in the wider economic context. It is also a kind of overview of the entire logistics industry – its condition and its prospects for the future, with particular emphasis on HR.
The publication is based on the findings of a study conducted in six countries – China, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom – commissioned by Gi Group Holding, Contract Logistics ‘Gino Marchet’ Observatory (CLO), Politecnico di Milano, and Data Intelligence INTWIG.
The key topics addressed in our latest report include:
- the economic and social role of the logistics sector;
- the logistics labour market – shortage of workers in all categories of positions as a major global issue of the sector;
- the perception of the logistics industry – how truthful it is, how much it relies on stereotypes, and how the general image of the sector impacts its attractiveness among potential candidates;
- the role of training in logistics – who needs it, and whether or not it really matters when it comes to recruiting staff.
The report also includes an appendix that looks at the wages found in the industry.
